San Francisco – Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is all set to reveal a key update on his brain-machine interface company Neuralink this week and may announce human trials for the technology that has been successful on mice and even apes.

While the whole agenda is still speculative, a live demonstration of neuron firing activity is confirmed.

“Will show neurons firing in real-time on August 28th. The matrix in the matrix,” Musk tweeted last month.

Musk has also claimed that a new Neuralink chip will allow users to hear sounds that previously were impossible to human ears.

He confirmed the new feature last month over an exchange with a Twitter user who asked: “If we implement Neuralink – can we listen to music directly from our chips? Great feature.”

Qualcomm’s Second-Gen Laptop Chip Isn’t Doing Enough to Compete With Apple

Last year, Qualcomm made a big push into the notebook market with its first purpose-built laptop chip—the Snapdragon 8cx. And for 2020, Qualcomm is announcing the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 which offers new 5G connectivity along with improved AI and security, but not much in the way of added performance, which kind of makes it a headscratcher when Apple is launching a competing product later this year.

Now don’t get me wrong, adding support for 5G is important, especially as we move into 2021 and 5G networks become more widely accessible. And when you combine support for both sub-6GHz 5G and mmWave 5G along with newly added Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, laptops like the upcoming Acer Spin 7 (which is the first system to feature the new Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 chip), should be well equipped for mobile productivity regardless of what kind of connection you’re relying on.

Google Pixel 4a, the Best Affordable Smartphone on the Market

What It Is:

The Google Pixel 4a is a shoo-in for best cheap electronics item of the year. It’s $349 and it comes unlocked, so you can use it with any plan. Plus, it’s packed with high-performing tech, like a fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chip with 6 gigabytes of RAM that let us easily stream the Raptors smoking the Nets during the NBA Playoffs, everything on Netflix, and 128GB of memory out of the box (frequently, cheap phones get paltry storage), which provides lots of native storage for content—see our note on that, below.

The 5.8-inch touchscreen is basically the same size as the iPhone 11 Pro, its 2,340 x 1,080 pixels seems plenty bright, with very clear, accurate color representation. The value play here (a 128GB iPhone SE costs $100 more) is tremendous, but so is the native tech that doesn’t come on other Android models. Here’s the

Slack Has Made Remote Office Communication Easier. It Can Also Be Less Civil.

Soon after employees at the online invitation site Evite began working from home in March, the company sent staffers guidelines for navigating remote-office life.

Among them: Don’t let problems fester on Slack.

The popular messaging tool makes instant communication across a company simple—one reason its usage has surged during the pandemic. But when everyone is working virtually, instant-messaging platforms like Slack can become a dumping ground for grievances, passive aggressiveness and other exchanges that are best left for private conversations, says Victor Cho, Evite’s CEO.

“You can’t have large, nuanced conversations over Slack,” Mr. Cho says. “That’s where you just see it going off the rails.” Evite advised its roughly 100 employees to resolve conflicts and complex issues by picking up the phone or scheduling a video meeting, which Mr. Cho says staffers have heeded.

If you use Slack for work communication, what have you found to
